Key west resorts for honeymoon9/24/2023 Maybe one day we can work up to a trip to Dry Tortugas! Read moreĭO NOT use this company. Sailboat living is fun, but tiring (tight quarters, keeping balance (lots of head bumps etc.), bathroom fun.ha) so we were glad that we kept it at 3 days. I would definitely recommend this trip to adventurous couples and families. Both he and Moon were all about making our experience as memorable as possible. Captain Pete also was a great teacher and taught my youngest Backgammon and my oldest how to tie fancy knots. Evenings in the harbor were so quiet and beautiful. Some other highlights from the trip were the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. We were amazed at what she could do in that tiny kitchen (especially while sailing in rough waters at times). She took care of us and fed us the BEST food. This was her first overnight trip with the company. That night, we moored at the harbor again for a calm sleep. Not ideal snorkeling conditions, but still some pretty fish, a barracuda & a spiny lobster. On the 3rd day, we ventured to a reef to snorkel. Captain Pete taught my oldest son spearfishing and they explored a shipwreck close by. We had some more fun sailing (sailing on a heel!) the next day and eventually made our way back to a harbor by Key West to moor for the night. Great fishing and a beautiful island to discover. We sailed to Boca Grande the first night and moored there. The sailing was adventurous, to say the least, but the Captain was always taking care of us and showing us the best time possible. The conditions were not ideal (high winds and lots of waves), but we never had any concern for our safety. Captain Pete was an absolute pro at sailing in every aspect. Before the sail, Captain Albert and his wife, Ronda, were so friendly and easy to deal with (and patient with my MANY questions!) From the moment we arrived at the dock to meet Captain Pete & First mate, Moon, we knew that this would be a wonderful adventure we'd never forget. We booked the 3-night sail on the Wild Thing. An overnight sailing trip was something our family had always wanted to try.
